33 Emails To Send Your Subscribers (when you’re totally stuck for ideas)
“Email has an ability many channels don't; creating valuable personal touches - at scale.” - David Newman
Hey mama, I hope you’re having a fab day and week 😀
Today’s post is one that I hope will help you a ton when it comes to your email marketing…
I’ve always struggled with this, I’m not gonna lie! Knowing what to send my email list has never been my strong point – at all!
I really overthink things when it comes to writing emails, as I don’t want to bore people, or over promote things etc…
I’ve researched this topic thoroughly and realised that I can actually send whatever I want to my subscribers, as long as it has a purpose for being sent.
This can include content that entertains or educates, you could share a new business idea or service, or, it could just be having a good old gossip, and sharing your life, like you’re talking with your best friend…
That’s why I wanted to put this post together and share my 33 emails to send your subscribers (when you’re totally stuck for ideas)…
”This post does contain affiliate links throughout and if you make a purchase using one of my links, I receive a small commission at no extra cost to you”
#1 - Fave Tools/Resources you Love to Use
This is one that I love to receive myself…
I love to read blog posts about people’s favourite tools and resources and getting a cheeky little email in my inbox about a new tool is awesome!
This is a great email to send your subscribers, as you can rave about something you use and love.
I’ve shared a lot of fab tools over the years, but I always have one RULE…
It has to be something I’ve used myself, so that I know it’s been tried and tested. I would never ever want to share anything that I’ve not used personally.
Some of my fave blogging tools are:
Try sending your list a new tool you’ve recently discovered, or a long term tool you couldn’t live without. Sharing is caring after all…
#2 - Quick Actionable Tip
Who doesn’t love an actionable tip!
Share something that your reader can implement and see the rewards.
Don’t make it crazy or too in-depth though, just something simple that they can take action on and get a result fast…
Providing them with an easy win is not only a great way to build trust with your subscribers, but it also shows them you can give away something for free, that’s actually going to benefit them and give them a desired outcome.
Some great tips you could send to your email subscribers could be:
A “secret” ingredient for a recipe
A productivity hack that helps you get more done in your day
A #1 strategy for making your post go viral on Instagram
An amazing book that changed your life
A top tip to get your grass greener in one day…
There’s so many tips and tricks you can send your subscribers, and you can do it in any niche or market.
People are constantly looking for that quick and actionable thing they can do to achieve something, and tips are fab ways to do this.
#3 - Answering a Blog Comment
Another great email you can send is one that answers a blog comment.
I’ve seen many blogs who have the same comments over and over again, asking for help, or an answer to something…
You can guarantee that if one or two people are asking something, many others are also wanting to know too!
What better way to answer the question(s) than to send an email to your list and help lots of people all at once.
#4 - Top Products and Courses That Have Really Helped You
I am addicted to online courses. I love nothing more than investing in a product or course which I know is going to help me.
If you’ve taken a course and it’s been really worthwhile and you learned a ton, why not shout about it to your subscribers!
It can be so hard knowing what products and courses are good to take, because there’s so much out there.
If you’re able to help someone pick a course which you know can benefit them so much, then go for it. It will save them from hunting around trying to find one for themselves.
It’s also a great way for you to earn a bit of income too, if the product or course has an affiliate program – win, win 👍
Some of the courses I’ve taken and adored are over on my Blogging Toolbox page…
#5 - Subscribers Struggles & Problems?
Blogs run on answering people’s pain points and problems!
In fact, most of the time we’re heading to good old Google, it’s because we want to know the answer to something, we want help, we want a “how to do something”…
If your audience is struggling with a problem, then why not send an email answering it in detail – get into the nitty gritty of that problem/pain point and really give them the help they want and deserve.
Some examples of problems (in all kinds of niches) could be:
How do I save money?
How do I make date night more romantic?
Is it best to take travel sickness tablets before I get on the plane or when I start to feel nauseous?
How do I control my child’s gaming addiction?
How do I make my living room look luxurious on a budget?
#6 - Discount Code for your Products
Who doesn’t love a discount and what better email to send than a nice money off coupon!
Everyone loves to send Black Friday, January sales and birthday discounts, but why not surprise your subscribers and send a random discount code for your products or services, just because you can…
People love a bargain and when you offer money off something, you’re likely to get an influx of sales.
Try sending your subscribers a discount code in your next email, just to show you love them and want to help them out even more!
They’ll love you for it 🙂
#7 - Exclusive Access
People need a reason to stay on your email list!
By keeping them “in the know” and giving exclusive access to things before anyone else, gives them that reason to stay and makes them feel special and like you care that they’re on your list.
It’s all too easy to sign up for people’s lists and we’re all on a LOT of lists, however, maintaining subscribers is a completely different ball game.
Offering them something no one else can get or first previews on awesome things really can make a huge difference.
Some things you can offer exclusive access on are:
Limited edition products
Brand new product or course
Free Trial to a new membership
Chapter to a new book…
#8 - Share your BIGGEST Mistakes
I love reading about people’s mistakes, not because I want to gloat, but because I want to learn from them.
If I can avoid something someone else has done, then trust me, I’m going to!
Blogging is a big enough learning curve as it is, so if you can learn from other’s mistakes, then pay attention and take note.
I’ve loved sharing some of my own blogging mistakes because I want to help as many mummy bloggers as I can.
We are very limited on time with our families and kids, so anything we can do to save time and energy is a massive win…
I also find that it shows I’m human like everyone else and makes me more relatable. We all make mistakes at the end of the day – that’s just life!
#9 - Give away a New Freebie
I am always creating new freebies, as I try to have a new one for every blog post I write (not always, but as often as I can).
I love sending them to my subscribers, as it’s great to get feedback and also, it’s another way to help as much as I can.
I also like to send exclusive freebies to my list and I’ve done this exact strategy many times.
Those freebies are never added to my blog and will always only be for people who subscribe to my email list.
#10 - Share Opportunities
If you have opportunities and want to share them with people, sending an email to your list is a fab way to do this.
You may need a VA (Virtual Assistant) or are reaching out to people to guest post on your blog.
You may also want to reach out to people to test out a new membership or product.
Having a list means you have people at your fingertips to contact and ask for help/advice and to test things out for you.
#11 - Weekend Update
This one is a bit more personal, but sending an email sharing what you got up to at the weekend, or from the previous week, is a lovely way to connect on a deeper level with your subscribers.
Emails don’t all have to be about promoting and sharing content helping and advising within your niche.
People love to feel more involved in your life and want to get into the daily goings on as well.
Sharing peaks into your life will definitely help you build a more solid relationship with your audience.
Some things you can share about your week/weekend are:
Fun activity
Weekend away
Parenting fail
Disastrous thing
House Decorating…
#12 - Something Inspiring
Emails that inspire are one of my favourites.
Whether it’s an inspiring quote, video, or just a story that someone is sharing, receiving inbox inspiration can really lift your mood and make you feel good.
Try sending some inspo to your list and ask for a reply too from your subscribers.
Ask them to let you know how it made them feel, or get them to share something inspiring back…
#13 - Behind the Scenes
Who doesn’t love a behind the scenes take on things.
There’s so many things you can share as well, and people go crazy for this kind of thing.
Take a look at some of the “behind the scenes” things you can share below:
Video Bloopers
Teasers
Behind your Brand
More about You
Day to Day Life
Introduce your Team…
#14 - A Bit About You
Why not share a little insight into who you are…
Keeping long standing relationships with your email list can be hard and that’s why I feel like you need to build deeper connections.
By letting people into your life a little and sharing more about who you are and what you stand for, you’re letting them see you’re a real person and that can make all the difference.
If you don’t want to share a ton within the email, you can always add a link to an “About Me Page” and direct them there to read more…
#15 - 10 of Your Favourite Things
I received this email once, and I’m annoyed as I can’t for the life of me remember who it was from.
The subject line was literally “10 of My All Time Favourite Things” and as soon as I saw it in my inbox, I couldn’t resist opening it.
It was a short and sweet email, but it was full of this person’s all time fave things in life.
It was nice to receive something light hearted and real and I really should do one of these emails myself.
It had things in it such as:
Favourite Movie
Favourite Perfume
Favourite YouTube Channel
Favourite Book read so far
Favourite Gift she’d ever received…
It really was a lovely simple, yet entertaining email to get.
#16 - Industry Specific Books
I love reading and so does pretty much everyone I know.
And the great thing is, for people who don’t like physically reading a book, there’s always the option to listen to audio books!
You can literally get every book in an audio version nowadays too, which is amazing.
I find this is great if you want to listen to them if you’re driving long distances and want something to entertain and keep you occupied.
Books are a great way to learn new things and keep on top of industry specific information, so sharing some of your fave books within your niche could be so helpful and beneficial to your email subscribers.
I’ve shared some great books for female entrepreneurs, not only within an email previously, but also here on my blog too.
#17 - Industry Specific News
Sticking along the lines of industry specific items, another way to keep your subscribers on top of things and up to date, is to send them the latest news and updates that’s going on within your niche.
As mums, we don’t always have the time to find out all the latest goings on, so if you can let them know the things they need to know, this will strike gold with them.
I’ve received some amazing emails in the past from people keeping me in the loop on updates to Google Search Console and G4 Analytics etc… This is really specific to my niche and as a blogger.
Some news you could let people know are:
Updates on tools and software that they need to know about
Share any relevant articles you’ve come across
Important Courses or Products that have come out on the market
Influencers you need to follow…
#18 - Survey your Audience
I bet you’ve received a survey in your inbox from someone you’re subscribed to.
Surveys are so popular and are a great way to gauge opinions of people on something that’s important to you.
Maybe you want to create a new product, therefore, before putting all your time and effort into creating it, why not send a survey to your audience and see whether it’s something they’ll be interested in.
If you get a great response, then go ahead and create it, however, if you get mixed opinions, maybe hold off and ask more questions. Find out more on what people want and need…
People’s insights can steer you in the right direction, so you can put something out there that could help so many people.
A few survey tools out there are:
#19 - Giveaways
People love, love, love giveaways!
The feeling of getting something for free can be riveting and super exciting.
But also, psychologically, people like receiving things because it establishes a connection and builds relationships.
If you give something away, it stimulates something within your readers to interact with you more and leaves them wanting to know more about you.
It gives them that motivation to stick around and see more of what you’re about!
Giveaways are also a great way to promote your products and services and give them that boost to get them out there…
All kinds of people use giveaways, from Influencers to Corporate Businesses.
Some “Giveaway” Ideas you could try are:
Coupon Codes
Free Gift with a Purchase
Gift Cards
Limited Edition Item to the first 10 people who click
Tickets to an Event
An Event or Trip
#20 - All the FAQ’s – You Asked – I Answered…
If you get asked lots of questions, in your DM’s, on your blog or within your inbox etc… A great way to answer them, is to send an email out answering them all!
It’s a great way to help tons of people in one go, but it also saves you time, as you don’t have to answer everyone one on one, which quite frankly, isn’t always possible if you’re a person who has a big audience.
It’s great to answer people personally and I really recommend you do this when you can, but with time being so precious, it isn’t the best use of your time as a busy mum, to be answering every single person/comment etc…
Let your audience know (on whatever platform you get the questions on) that you’ve been receiving lots of questions on that particular topic, and that you’re going to send an email out answering it ALL!
This also gives you a great gateway to get more people to sign up to your email list, because they’ll want to sign up to hear your advice and answers on the questions they want answered!
Win, win… 👍
#21 - Changes you’re making to your Blog/Biz
Big news, or any news for that matter intrigues everyone and if an email hits my inbox headlined “Big Changes Happening” or “Big Things Coming Up” etc… you know I’m going to be checking it out!
Piquing your subscribers interests is an absolute must when it comes to your email marketing, and because we’re all naturally nosey lol, anything new that’s up and coming is definitely a good email to send.
You can also share things maybe a bit more in depth, or personal, that you might not necessarily want to do on social media or your blog, which is so public.
#22 - Throwback Thursday
Who doesn’t love a TT…
People love reminiscing in the nostalgia of something amazing which happened in the past.
Sharing memories of a great time of when you wore neon shell suits (yep, I did wear these as a child in the 80’s and 90’s) or of the awesome cabbage patch dolls and care bears you collected and hoarded with you everywhere (yep, also me)…
Share your amazing Throwback Thursday stories in an email and watch your open rates soar!
Your subscribers just won’t be able to resist.
#23 - Share your favourite Bloggers/Influencers
We all have our favourite influencers and bloggers, who we eagerly await their videos, reels, emails and content each week.
I love the anticipation knowing that an upload is coming, or a story comes up from someone I adore watching and just makes me smile, laugh or teaches me something.
It can be hard to find people we resonate with online, so if you have bloggers/influencers you feel your audience would also love, quickfire an email out sharing them. Share the post you found fab or their Insta handle, so they can go and enjoy their awesomeness too…
I love Instagram and YouTube, as they’re the platforms where I really enjoy consuming content, so some of my fave bloggers/influencers are:
#24 - Important/Upcoming Dates and Events + Product Launch Emails
If you have an upcoming event, whether that be an “in person” event, or an online webinar, send an email (or even better, a series of emails) to your subscribers sharing the dates of when it will be.
Share tid bits and vital information, and make sure you build the excitement, so they won’t be able to resist signing up and attending.
You could even offer the first few people to sign up a special discount code for your product etc…
If you’re doing a product launch, you could even send a series of emails, teasing and building anticipation, so that when the time comes, they can’t wait to get their hands on it…
Product launch emails are a vital part of any marketing strategy, so test it out and make sure you’re utilising the month, week and days before something big is happening within your blog or business.
#25 - The “Why I Love…” Email
This email is one that can be used for literally anything.
I’ve used this for certain books I love, bloggers and also products and courses I’ve purchased and have loved, because they’ve helped me so much.
If you’re stuck one week for something to send to your list, think about something you love that’s helped you and your blog/business, and pass it on to your subscribers – they’ll love you for it…
Some examples could be:
Why I love baking this one cookie recipe over and over!
Why I love blogging (because as a mum, it’s awesome)
Why I love doing this one thing every night before bed
Why I love face serums sooooo much (this one is gold)
Why I love crime thriller TV Shows (two series you have to binge)…
#26 - Quotes – Any Awesome Quotes
Want to brighten your subscribers day… send them an awesome quote!
Whether it’s something to inspire, educate or uplift them, a quote can really change someone’s day.
Why not send an email quoting a few of your all time favourite quotes, or send one that relates to the topic of your email, or you could even add a little quote to the end of every email you send.
I include a quote within every single blog post I write. I love that before my readers even get into my posts, they have something inspiring to read beforehand.
#27 - Before + After
We all love, love, love a “before and after”…
Whether it’s a room makeover, a blog makeover or a makeover of yourself…
If you’re on a journey, or your blog/biz has been through some changes, email your list and share some before and afters!
It’s human nature to be intrigued and nosy when it comes to before & after and you never know who you’re going to inspire or motivate to do something themselves…
#28 - Recording of a Live Event
If you’ve hosted a live event (whether that be in person or online), you can send the people who attended a recording, so that they have it forever (free, as they already paid to attend the event and this is an awesome bonus).
This is such valuable information to send, as we all know it’s hard to remember and take everything in at an event, because there’s just too many distractions and stuff going on.
You could also sell the recording to people who didn’t attend, so that they too can benefit from all of the awesomeness…
#29 - A Story
Don’t you just love a story!
I love receiving emails from the people I’m subscribed to, sharing a story…
Sometimes they’re sharing an awesome business win (power to all the amazing women in business out there) but other times, they’re telling us about something truly emotional and real, that’s happened in their life!
Whatever kind of story is told, it builds a much deeper connection and relationship with readers if you can share areas of your life.
We can all resonate so much better with people, if we know them better and have an understanding of how they roll and what they’re about.
I’m not saying you have to share every single nitty gritty piece, but if you can open up just a little and let people see who you really are, you’ll really notice how much more of a connection you have, which can lead to all kinds of opportunities…
#30 - A Free Trial to Your Product/Service/Membership…
If you have a product or service, why not offer a free trial or a free consultation (depending on what you do)…
Emailing your subscribers and offering them something free of charge can help to grow your business and get word out there for what it is you’re selling or offering.
It also gives your readers an opportunity to test out your products/services to see whether it’s a good fit.
You could also offer an all access pass to a select few people, to try things out and see how it all works, on the proviso they provide you with proper feedback and their honest opinions.
This can help you to improve your products and make them even better for your clients…
#31 - Pre-Launch + Sales Emails
When you’re launching something new, don’t forget to utilise your email marketing powers!
By sending pre-launch emails, you can really hone in on “bigging up” your product/service and getting your readers excited to grab it when it’s live!
Peaking your readers’ interests and sending them a few emails in the weeks leading up to a launch will do wonders, and will get people sitting on the edge of their seats, waiting to buy…
Make sure you’re sending regular sales emails out as well when you have products/services to sell.
Setting up campaigns and sequences is a must when it comes to selling digital products online.
Do not make every single email about sales though, because you’ll annoy people and they’ll unsubscribe from your list quicker than you can say boo to a goose!
But… saying this, when you have something to sell, you want to get it out to as many people as possible.
You could try the “soft selling” approach as well, by having your products mentioned at the bottom of every email, with maybe just a link to your products page on your blog or website.
This means your subscribers can click on the link if they choose to, without feeling pressured to buy…
#32 - Seasonal Emails
With all the different seasons we have, it’s a great way to send emails to your subscribers about different things you may have coming up.
The most obvious are “themed emails” for things like Christmas Holidays, Summer Vacations and Easter etc…
It’s a great way to delve into a new season with your subscribers, such as when Spring is near and everyone starts to feel happy about the warmer weather that is coming soon.
Seasonal Content is very relevant for lots of blog and biz owners, especially if you’re a lifestyle blogger, or someone who benefits hugely from selling seasonal items.
By staying relevant and “on trend” with the seasons, you’re seamlessly sending content which will resonate with your audience at the right time, so it’s a win-win for everyone.
#33 - Share Testimonials
Testimonials can go a long way, especially when it comes to sales!
People can find it really hard to find trustworthy people online, because unfortunately, there are many scammers and people who just aren’t legitimate out there.
If you have something you’re selling, when you’re sending your emails out, be sure to include testimonials from people who have already purchased and loved it!
Raving fans are fab for business and will be your biggest cheerleaders, so why not reach out to your customers and ask them to give you a testimonial to put within your emails, but also on your blog/website and socials…
People want to see reviews and hear from people who have already purchased things, before they’ll part with their hard earned money.
How to Stand Out in your Subscribers Inbox
A final quick tip before I end this post, is how you can stand out in your subscribers inbox.
There’s a few simple things you can do to make your emails pop:
Use emojis within the email subject line so they grab your reader’s attention instantly
Make sure your name is something they’ll recognise – for example – if they’ve signed up to Blogging for Mums, then have this as your email sender name, and not your name, because they may not know who it is and click that DELETE button!
Write your emails like you’re writing to your bestie
Always provide valuable content
Give readers a choice as to what they’d like to receive from you, by adding a few category links within an email, so they can click on what they find most relevant to them
Tell your subscribers how often you’ll be hitting their inbox, so you can manage their expectations
Stick to who you are and what your brand is
Let’s Wrap Up!
So there’s my 33 Emails To Send Your Subscribers (when you’re totally stuck for ideas)…
If you’re sitting there thinking “what should I send to my email list” or “how do I engage my email subscribers” – no longer will you have this dilemma!
I hope you try some of them and that they’ve inspired some ideas for you!
It’s all really just trial and error and you have to play around with your emails, and see what kind of content works for your audience and subscribers.
Send something entertaining and that will make them laugh and if that doesn’t work, try educating them in a fun way or sharing a story and see if that hits the spot…
